Lauren & Chad – Engagement Session @ NoDa (Charlotte Wedding Photographer)

Lauren & Chad will be getting married really soon, so I thought it was fitting that I post some of their engagement pictures. They had a great idea of cutting out their date using cardboard, then having me take some images of it. I really like the date against the blue sky! NoDa provided the backdrop, so we moved around the area taking advantage of the colorful buildings they have there. I thought the session was really fun and the smiles come through very well. Lauren and Chad are awesome to work with, I can’t wait for their wedding later next month in the mountains! More to come on that!

Smash Cake! Family/Toddler Session – Freedom Park (Charlotte Wedding & Portrait Photographer)

Ria is so cute, I enjoy every opportunity I can work with her and her parents, truly one of the nicest families I have ever met! I recently met with Ria and her parents at Freedom Park for a celebration of her 1st birthday. We had a number of tasks at hand. First, we wanted to get some great family portraits. Second, we had to have some cool candids of Ria. Finally, the session was topped off with a little smash cake! If you have never heard of this, it is a simple concept. Buy a cake, put it out in front of your 1-year old, then let them do the rest! It makes for some great memories and the photos are awesome.

Marla – Bridal Session at Childress Vinyard

I really love the bridal session I am posting today. I met up with Marla at Childress Vineyards for her bridal recently. You can see Marla and Chace’s engagement session in the last post and their wedding day images are soon to come! Childress Vineyards is an awesome place for photography, so many elements to work with. There is of course the vineyard, but also the building/venue itself, a pond, etc. The inside is really cool, but we held off shooting inside deciding to save it for the wedding day. Marla’s dress is really nice, I love the way the flowers blend with the vineyards and colors/tones that they have there. I don’t know which one is my favorite from the session, there are so many cool images that I selected some of my favs to display below.

I have been wanting to post these images for some time now. Marla and Chace met up with me in Salisbury for their engagement session. We moved around town, mostly around the Salisbury Train Depot, as well as one of the local parks. Here are some from our session, I love the black & white shots from the session!

Nydia & Justin – Saratoga Springs Wedding (Charlotte Wedding Photographer)

Nydia and Justin were married recently at Saratoga Springs. What a fabulous couple and awesome wedding venue. Saratoga Springs is one of the premier wedding venues in the Charlotte area. Although a little outside Charlotte, it is well worth the drive and makes for a great venue for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Nydia and Justin had exceptional weather and they added their own light via their smiles and laughter. Their family and friends came from far and wide to celebrate their day with them. Everyone was so awesome to work with and I spent a good part of my day laughing and smiling right along with them. I love the horse drawn carriage at Saratoga Springs, it adds a unique dimension to the wedding day. Congrats to Nydia and Justin, two of the best clients I have ever had! Here are but a few of my favorites.

Katherine & Greg – Mint Museum Wedding (Charlotte Wedding Photographer)

Greg and Katherine are a fantastic couple who I had the pleasure to meet and photograph not too long ago. I shot their e-session, as well as Katherine’s bridal and they are both so cool. Their affection and love for one another is evident in the images you will see below. Their wedding and reception took place at the Mint Museum. We had fantastic weather and so the colors are rich and the lighting second to none. Katherine and Greg chose quality vendors for the day, including a good friend of mine – Brian Bunn. Brian is an excellent videographer who I have known for more than 25-years. Split Second sound provided the tunes and if you know anything about DJs in Charlotte, you know they are one of the best! Katherine and Greg decided to break the ice with a first look, electing to see each other before the ceremony. Check out some of the images from the day.

Morgan & David – Spring E-Session (Charlotte Wedding Photographer)

Morgan and David will be getting married later in the year, but we met up recently at Freedom Park for their engagement session. Colors are what it is all about and this session is full of great color and depth. Morgan and David came dressed to impress and they look great in front of the camera. Aubree – Spring Infant Session (Charlotte Family Photographer)

Aubree is a little doll baby! Infants are so cool to photograph, I just love to be the first professional to take their pictures! For this session I wanted to create some real signature images shot against a black backdrop. I feel that these types of images are truly timeless and they never get old. You could look at one today, or in 50-years and you still would not know when they were taken. We also put some cool hats and flower clips in Aubree’s hair to add some color and get some great close-ups. No session is complete without a personalized family portrait and it seemed fitting to do one in the baby’s room! Take a look at some of the cool shots from this session…

Spring Family Session (Charlotte Family Photographer)

You want to know what happens during family sessions? With most family sessions I try to capture a wide array of contemporary and traditional images. I find that by getting a little of both, everyone is happy with the images and they have plenty to pick from. A recent spring session in Salisbury is a great example of what goes on during my sessions. I had a really big family to photograph, so I was asked to get some nice group shots, plus some really cool candids of a family being a family. I either reflected or created the lighting, or in some cases just shot natural light only. Mixing it up is what makes the session fun and I really enjoyed this one. Sierra – Spring Bridal (Charlotte Wedding Photographer)

I met up with Sierra for what turned out to be a fantastic bridal session. With her wedding behind, I can post some of the great images from her bridal session! What I like about this session is the variety of great backdrops that we had to work with at The Arbors. I love the greens, reds, and stone backgrounds that we had to work with and we had favorable lighting. Sierra wanted to do something for her husband-to-be, so she brought along his police officer’s hat to wear for a few images. I particularly like the images between the rows of trees!
