My longtime friends Jason & Nicole recently had a baby!  I have known them for over 10-years and of course I really wanted to be the first to take their baby’s picture.  Jason & Nicole live in the moutains, so I took the family up for a little trip and stopped in for a quick photo shoot.  Little John was very tiny and the shoot went well.  I like clean backgrounds, often choosing white paper or simple pink/blue papers if I choose to use a backdrop at all.  This time I used a clean charcoal background because I think it produces a nice tonality for B&W photos and can look quite nice for color photos as well.  All images are with natural light, produced from the diffused light of a huge sliding glass door.  I love it when I have great light available to me.  Here is some of that timeless look that I always strive for with my shoots.  These shots will look great in 50-100 years and will never grow old.

Just a few weeks ago I met with Amanda to shoot her bridal session.  You can see Amanda & Ben’s engagement session here.  We were lucky, because as you all know we have had a cold winter for the Carolinas, so I was worried that an outdoor bridal shoot in early March might be tough.  As it turned out this particular day was around 60 degrees and sunny, so that is as good as it gets for early March.  I was also really excited because Amanda chose a very cool wedding dress.  Her dress gave me the opportunity to try different things and make the bridal unique.  The wedding was just the other day, so I will be posting that very soon (very cool wedding in Salisbury).  Here are some from the bridal.

Charles contacted me about doing a winter shoot outdoors.  It can be tough doing outdoor shoots in the winter, not so much because of the cold, but because of the lack of foliage and greenery in general.  Often when your dealing with winter shoots like these and your looking for locations that have vibrant colors, you essentially have to steer clear of most parks and natural locations.  Parks are often very gray in the winter, so you have to know the best places to go.  In this case, I wanted to go someplace close to where I met up with Charles for some quick indoor headshots and had plenty of color and greenery.  Hornets Nest Park was just the place.  The park works since it boasts huge pine trees that hold their green needles all year long, plus a nice rustic bridge to boot.  Here are some from the session.

Yana & Jordan were married last year at the beautiful Firethorne Country Club in Marvin, NC.  Firethorne provides a nice setting for outdoor weddings and an exceptional interior for receptions.  In fact, some of my favorite images of Yana & Jordan were captured right inside the lobby of the club house.  The shots I took reflected the personality of Yana & Jordan as you will see in many of the selections below.  They like to kid with one another and have fun in front of the camera.  I had a blast at the wedding and they were fun to work with.  Best wishes Yana & Jordan!
