I get take pictures of lots of babies, but rarely do I get the opportunity to shoot twins.  Twins are cool because I can do all the things I usually do when photographing one baby, but add the element of mixing them together for shots.  Its funny to see what twins will do when they are so new and are still getting used to each other and the world at the same time.  These sessions require a little more patience.  The twins’ mom and dad were awesome and very cool with helping rearrange furniture and such during the shoot.  Proud parents as well, but I don’t blame them.  See for yourself!

Freedom Park is one of the best places to meet families for a session. It is centrally located in the heart of Charlotte. It offers plenty of walking trails. It has nice bridges, tall trees, and large pond at its center. My favorite feature is it’s huge Willow trees which always make a nice backdrop and are usually fun for kids to play with. I met the Wilson family there recently for a session and caught tons of cool shots with available light only.  As much as I like to use softboxes, fill-light, and other off-camera lighting on location, on this occasion I went all natural. That was what I was feeling that day and for this family. Here you go….

I can never get tired of shooting right in the heart of Charlotte.  Every single time I go there for a shoot I try a different path and I always find new places to take pics.  I try different loops, then I hit side streets to find interesting places to take pics.  This engagement session was no different.  Often, choosing a place to photograph depends on the person in front of the camera.  If you have fun people to work with, you find fun backgrounds to work with.  On this session I was able to find some great places for Tiffany and Diondre along our loop.  Lots of vibrant colors and nice lines!  They were a fun couple to work with and it shows in the images!

If you thinking about an outdoor location for your wedding and need a fantastic venue then consider Van Landingham Estate.  Van Landingham is a wonderful old estate off of Plaza road in central Charlotte that can accommodate a large wedding party for outdoor ceremonies.  The main house can also house receptions as well if you would like to have the entire wedding take place their.  The grounds have a waterfall, pond, flower gardens, and many other features that make it a great place for photography in particular.  And of course the house itself makes an excellent backdrop for photography, as does the inside with it large staircase and sitting areas.

Greg & Paula were married at Van Landingham and I had the opportunity to photograph their wedding in the Spring.  They had exceptional weather that day and the flowers were in full bloom!  I love the natural colors in these shots, as well as the wonderful night shots of the grounds.  Whats great about outdoor weddings is that I can move more freely (And still not be a distraction.  In the ceremony close-ups, I was hiding behind some bushes shooting around them!)  This wedding was a blast.
