Some time ago I decided that I would create a behind-the-scenes video to show future clients more about how I shoot weddings. What I really wanted to do, is have a short video that would give clients a glimpse into what to expect, as well as to relay just how much I love my job! Well after quite a bit of planning and editing this promotional video is ready to be unveiled! The video was shot by the amazing videographer Brian Bunn of Brian Bunn Films! I have worked with Brian before on numerous weddings and he and I are from the same small town of Lilesville, NC as crazy as that is – we have known each since we were kids. He did such a great job capturing my personality and really putting together a masterful edited final product. He shot this at Saratoga Springs last summer when I was shooting Caitlin and Jack’s wedding that you can see here. It was some months later before I was able to get up with Brian to shoot the interview portion, but I wanted to be able to discuss how much I love my job and my clients. So here it is after a great deal of hard work! You can literally see the sweat rolling off my forehead on this video! I hope anyone who watches this will see that I love what I do, am passionate about my photography and most of all – I care very much about the people I have the pleasure of working with!

Early November is perhaps the best time for weddings, especially if you want vibrant colors to show in your wedding photos. Not only is the air crisp and the humidity very low, but the leaves are generally at the their peak (give or take a week) around the first of November in our area. Maryann and Evan would have perfect fall weather for their truly wonderful wedding at Pine Lake Country Club. I started the day with Maryann and her bridesmaids, getting some shots of here preparing for the wedding. From there, we moved onto St John Newmann Catholic Church for their ceremony, before moving onto the reception at Pine Lake. Maryann and Evan were a pure joy to work with and their wedding party was so much fun! We had a good time getting some fun shots of all of them at the country club. The feelings that Maryann and Evan have for each other could best be described as – electric! I always want to capture the emotions and love that people have for each other through their interactions. I think the images below more than show that electricity that these two have for one another! The reception was great! So many of their family members traveled great distances to be with them on their wedding day and they partied ferociously well into the evening. Some of my favorite images are those taken at the country club with the golden color of the leaves and back-lighting seemingly illuminated them from all around! Best of luck to Maryann and Evan, thank you for having me document your wedding day!

Dawn and Darrell are a great couple who were recently married at Maggiano’s/South Park Mall. I had the distinct pleasure of having shot their engagement session (you can see that here) and Dawn’s bridal session (seen here) prior to the wedding. The wedding day began at the Double Tree Hotel in Southpark. I have always loved the Double Tree, as it has some really great interior decor that lends itself well to photography. Dawn and her bridesmaids looked great and had some fun with the pre-ceremony shots. We even staged it to where Dawn and Darrell could hold hands (without seeing each other of course) prior to the ceremony! I always love when that happens! Darrell and the guys looked really suave in their suits and I love the seriousness of the some of the shots we got at the Double Tree. From there we proceeded to Maggiano’s, the location for the ceremony and reception. Some of my favorite shots were those that we took after the ceremony, when we drove over to the Marriott in Southpark. Among those are the great group photo that begins the images below! The reception was a great party from start to finish and I was so happy to be apart of it all! Congrats Dawn and Darrell, I was so happy to be there with you and wish you two the best!

Loray Mill in Gastonia, NC is the location for this weeks featured family session. Loray Mill is an historical textile plant that was in operation for something like 100+ years. Like so many mills in our area, it has undergone a transformation and has been revitalized. Now Loray Mill is home to many people and also sports many businesses. From a photography standpoint, textile mills can be one of the most interesting places for indoor shoots, as most have exposed brick and huge windows that spill luscious sunlight everywhere. On this particular day, I would be meeting up for a yearly holiday session with two of my favorite families, the Echevarria and Logan Families! In fact, Jonathan and his family run a business there called Loray Athletic Club. I love the backdrop that Loray provides and the lighting I used was a mix of natural and fill-flash from an umbrella lighting setup. Here are some from the session:
