Spring is already in the air even though it is still February!  It has been warm out the last couple of weekends, so it has been a great time to meet up for outdoor sessions again.  Kira & Eric are sure to have an awesome wedding later this Spring at River Run.  I met them and their Boxer Ms. Meta for some woodsy shots to start off with, before going downtown for a little urban variety.  It was a little windy, but we managed to deal with it!  Ms. Meta was a little shy towards me, but I managed to get her to look at me a few times, she is a sweet girl and I love her closeup below!  What I really enjoy sometimes is capturing rim lighting.  This was a great session to do that, since I had a nice breeze and warm backlighting.  FYI, rim lighting is when you place a strong light (in this case the sun) behind the subject to backlight them purposely.  The idea is to cast a solid “rim” of lighting, almost like a halo all around them.  When it is done well  it makes your subject look fantastic, warm, and leaves a wimsical feeling to your images!  Kira and Eric, you look great and I look forward to your wedding!

Brent - It was my pleasure Kira, thanks for the compliment! Looking forward to the big day!

Kayla is so precious, I was so happy to see her all dressed up in her outfit when I arrived to take her picture recently.  She had the cutest little white and pink dress on, with a small pink bow in her hair.  I always carry a few things in my car with me for props, so when I saw the layout and what she was wearing, I knew my little chair would be a good bet for this little 8-month old.  So off I went to the car to fetch it and before long I was snapping some cool images of her smiling, with some really cool wainscoting and hardwood floors as my background (love the lines!)  In addition, Kayla did change outfits and I was able to get some more colorful shots of her upstairs.  What a nice family!  Here are some cool ones from my time there.

I have been photographing little Maddie since she was born, even before she was born if you count the maternity session!  It is really great to see little ones grow up before your camera, a true privilege in fact.  What is great is that Maddie is full of smiles and personality, so taking her pictures is always so much fun.  Her parents are really cool, so I met them at the best time of day to get some of the most colorful, warm shots I could get.  Love the closeups, laughter, and the colors throughout!

Since it is officially 2011 and I can catch my breath, I find myself with a little time to finally add some of the awesome weddings from 2010.  I can’t believe that it has taken me so long to get around to posting some of these weddings, but better late than never.  I have had the awesome opportunity to be at some really great weddings and some heartfelt moments throughout 2010, so today I start with one of those weddings – Patrick & Lisa.  I shot their engagement session which you can see here.  Patrick & Lisa were married at St. Mark Catholic Church in Huntersville.  St. Mark is an exception church with stunning lines, lighting, and woodwork throughout.  A fantastic place for their ceremony.  Patrick and Lisa then had their reception at The Peninsula Club, which is one of the premiere venue on Lake Norman.  The Peninsula Club offers not only a fabulous venue for couples looking for an all inclusive place for their ceremony and reception, but it is is great for reception only events and for your photography as you will see below.  There are some great places along the golf course and down by the lake front for photography on your wedding day.  For Patrick & Lisa, I was able to get some very romantic twilight/late evening images by the water that are as unique as any that I have been able to get at The Peninsula.  They had a late ceremony, so we had to book it to get to the lake in time to get some shots before it was completely dark.  As it turns out those moody shots are some of my favs!
